Some time ago the bank notes were released by both national and commercial banks as well as by financial companies. But nowadays the right to make bank notes belongs only to central banks of the countries and are effective on the territory of the certain country.The most ancient bank notes are Chinese ones. First they were released in 8th century.

The bank note that has the highest purchase power is the USA dollar. During the history of dollar, its highest face value was ten thousand dollars of the USA. These bank notes were released during 80s and at that time they had simply huge purchase power and that was ten times more than now. But since that time these many times devalued bank notes still have the highest purchase power in the world. Since 1944 only 130 dollars were immobilized from the circulation (including the dead bank notes). That is why their value nowadays is not marked at all.

The word "bank note" appeared long before the real bank notes as they are known today. They were created as the notes the bank gave to people who deposited the money. The monetary unit of Hungary became popular for the highest inflation level in the history of money circulation on our planet. The highest face value became two trillions of Hungary money. And ilater the central bank released the milliard billions that became the highest face value of bank note in the world.
